playful innocence.
The Playful Innocence Series explores playful innocence from an adult point of view. Typically these words are associated with child like behavior but this work shifts that kind of thinking. These pieces have an intelligent meaning underneath their child like surface.
.
Through innocent characters, playful objects, engaging colors and simple compositions, each painting contains a whimsical daydream-like story about true consciousness and points to some level of the joy and peace it brings.
Adult generic figures are the primary subject and lack any physical identity to symbolize the absence of ego. They are set with innocent animal figures and random objects to convey a playful interaction with life. The action of accepting each moment in this context, is considered a form of play and intelligent innocence.
Other artists that have explored playful innocence in some fashion are Alexander Calder, Keith Haring, Paul Klee and Henri Matisse.
